Captain Bob sat in his small metal chair and looked at the main screen of his spaceship. Suddenly, a big red light started to flash.
“Oh no,” Captain Bob said to his helper, a small round robot named BEEP-2. “We have a very bad problem. The engine is broken again.”
“I can fix the engine,” BEEP-2 said in a slow, flat voice. “However, we need a special blue space crystal. There are many blue crystals on the small green planet near us.”
Captain Bob flew the spaceship down through the clouds and landed on the green planet. He opened the heavy door and walked out into the tall yellow grass. He carried a big leather bag on his back. On his head, he wore his favourite shiny silver hat.
“Please be careful,” BEEP-2 said, following him out of the ship. “My computer says the aliens on this planet are very tall, very strong, and always angry.”
Captain Bob walked slowly over a small hill. Soon, he saw a bright blue crystal lying on the ground. But next to the crystal, there was a strange blue creature. It was short, fat, and covered in soft purple hair. It had six small eyes and three long ears.
“Hello,” Captain Bob said slowly and carefully. “I am Captain Bob, a great space explorer. I need your blue crystal to fix my spaceship.”
The blue creature stood up and looked at Captain Bob. It looked at his face, then it looked up at his shiny silver hat. Suddenly, the creature started to laugh. It laughed so hard that it fell down on the grass.
“Your hat is hilarious!” the alien shouted. Its voice was very high and squeaky. “You look like a big, shiny teapot!”
Captain Bob felt very surprised. He touched his hat. “I am an important space captain! This hat is professional uniform!”
“No, it is not,” the alien said, wiping a tear from one of its six eyes. “It is definitely a teapot hat! Look, there is a handle on the side!”
“That is the radio antenna!” Captain Bob said, but his face felt very warm and red.
The alien picked up the bright blue crystal and gave it to Captain Bob. “Here, take the crystal, teapot man! Thank you for making me laugh today. It was a wonderful joke!”
Captain Bob took the crystal, put it in his bag, and walked quickly back to his spaceship. BEEP-2 took the crystal and put it into the broken engine. The spaceship engine started to make a loud, happy noise again.
“Did the dangerous alien attack you?” BEEP-2 asked, looking at Captain Bob.
“No,” Captain Bob sighed, taking off his shiny silver hat and looking at it carefully. “It did not attack me. It just laughed at my hat.”
BEEP-2 looked at the silver hat for three seconds. “The alien was correct,” the robot said. “It really is a very funny hat.”
Captain Bob sat back down in his chair and started the main engine. “Be quiet, BEEP-2,” he said. “On the next planet, I am going to buy a normal hat.”
