Arthur was a quiet man who loved tea. He lived in a small English village. Every afternoon at three o’clock, Arthur drank hot tea from his favourite blue teapot.
One sunny Tuesday, Arthur went to his kitchen. He opened the cupboard. The blue teapot was not there.
“This is very strange,” Arthur said.
He looked under the table. He looked inside the oven. Nothing. Then, he saw a wet footprint on the floor. It was small, like a cat’s foot, but it had six toes.
Arthur felt nervous. A secret agent lived next door. Her name was Clara. Clara always wore dark sunglasses and carried a big black bag. Arthur ran to her house and knocked on the door.
“Clara!” Arthur shouted. “My blue teapot is gone!”
Clara opened the door quickly. “Listen to me, Arthur,” she whispered. “Your teapot is not normal. It holds a secret map!”
Arthur was shocked. “I just wanted my tea!”
“Follow me,” Clara said.
They walked into the dark forest behind the village. Clara held a small flashlight. Suddenly, they heard a loud noise. Snap!
A tall man in a yellow coat stepped out from behind an old oak tree. In his left hand, he held the blue teapot.
“Stop!” Clara yelled. She pulled a shiny metal gadget from her pocket.
The man in yellow laughed. “The map inside this teapot will make me rich!”
He turned the teapot upside down. But no map came out. Only warm, brown tea spilled onto his leather boots. The man looked confused.
Clara smiled. “The map is in my teapot at home,” she said. “Arthur’s teapot is just for Earl Grey.”
The man dropped the blue teapot in surprise. Clara caught it quickly in the air. The man ran away into the trees, shouting angry words.
Clara gave the teapot back to Arthur. “Here you go, neighbour.”
Arthur smiled and wiped his teapot. “Thank you, Clara. Now, would you like a cup of tea?”
