Short Story 866 – The New Song (UpB)

Peter works in an office every day. He likes his job but he feels very tired after work. He goes home and eats dinner alone. One evening he walks along the street. He hears nice music from a man with a guitar. The man sings a happy and fast song. Peter stops and listens for a long time. The music makes him feel good inside.

The next day Peter goes to a small store in town. He buys a guitar and takes it home. He sits on his chair and starts to learn. At first the sounds are not good. His fingers hurt a lot and he makes many mistakes. But he does not stop. He practices every evening after dinner.

Peter watches videos on his computer to learn more. He tries to copy the man from the street. After one week he can play two easy notes together. After two weeks he can play a simple full song. He feels very proud of himself.

One Sunday Peter calls his sister on the phone. He plays the song for her. She listens carefully and smiles. “That is nice, Peter!” she says. “You are good at this.” Peter plays the song again and again. His sister claps her hands.

Now Peter has a new hobby. He practices more every week. He learns two new songs and plays them with the first one. He is happy because he tried something new. He knows he can learn even more in the future. Peter smiles when he thinks about the man on the street. Music changed his evenings.
