Tom loved his dog, Rex, more than anything in the world. Rex was a loyal and friendly golden retriever who had been with Tom since he was a puppy. Tom had adopted Rex from a shelter when he was going through a rough patch in his life. Rex had helped him cope with his depression and loneliness, and had given him a reason to smile every day.
Tom wanted to do something special for Rex’s birthday, which was coming up soon. He decided to take him to the beach, where dogs were allowed. He had heard that Rex loved the water and the sand, and he wanted to see him happy and free. He packed some snacks, water, towels, and toys for Rex, and loaded them into his car. He put Rex’s leash on him, and said, “Come on, boy, we’re going for a ride!”
Rex wagged his tail excitedly, and jumped into the car. He loved going for rides with Tom, and he sensed that they were going somewhere fun. He stuck his head out of the window, and enjoyed the breeze and the smells. Tom drove for about 35 minutes, until they reached the beach. He parked his car near the entrance, and got out. He took Rex’s leash off, and said, “Go ahead, boy, have fun!”
Rex ran towards the beach, barking happily. He saw the blue sea, the white waves, and the golden sand. He felt the sun on his fur, and the wind in his ears. He saw other dogs playing with their owners, and he joined them. He chased balls, frisbees, sticks, and seagulls. He dug holes in the sand, and buried his toys. He splashed in the water, rolled in the seaweed, and shook off the salt.
One of his new friends was a black Labrador named Luna. She was playful and energetic, and her owner threw a bright red ball into the water for her to fetch. Rex followed her into the water, and tried to get the ball before her. They both reached it at the same time, and tugged at it with their teeth. They splashed each other with their paws, and made noises with their mouths. They let go of the ball at the same time, and it floated away.
Another one of his new friends was a brown poodle named Fifi. She was elegant and graceful, and her owner wore a fancy hat and sunglasses. Rex followed her along the shore, and sniffed at shells, crabs, and starfish. They wagged their tails at people who passed by them. They stopped at a vendor who sold ice cream cones for dogs. They licked their cones with their tongues.
Tom watched Rex from a distance, smiling. He was glad to see him so happy and free. He felt a surge of love and gratitude for his dog, who had given him so much joy and comfort. He took some pictures of Rex with his phone, and posted them on social media. He received many likes and comments from his friends and family, who praised Rex’s cuteness and happiness.
Tom joined Rex on the beach, and played with him. He threw balls and frisbees for him to catch. He rubbed his belly and scratched his ears. He hugged him and kissed him. He told him how much he loved him, and wished him a happy birthday.
Rex licked Tom’s face, and wagged his tail. He looked into Tom’s eyes.
They spent a few hours at the beach, having fun together. They ate their snacks, drank their water, dried their towels. They packed their things, and got back into the car. They drove back home, feeling happy and tired.
They arrived at their house, and went inside. They took a shower separately, washing off the sand and salt. Tom put on his pajamas, and they cuddled on the couch. They watched a movie together, and fell asleep.
Both of them dreamed of the beach, where they had spent a wonderful day together.
